Highly respected National Artist Badong Bernal examines the Filipino dress and how its evolution shows that it is as an amalgamation of influences from the East and the West. Conclusions made by this lecture will be based on prints from travelogues, photographs, paintings of tipos del pais, and more. Well-versed in the evolution of Filipino dressing traditions, Mr. Panlilio will follow with engaging accounts of the illustrado lifestyle and the Philippine social scene post-WWII; insight into the demand that created and nourished designers of that time.
